I've had that name-mixing problem in other books, especially those by Russians, who tend to use a lot of names for each character ... I drew a mind (?) map (tankekart), which helped. But however cheap they are I still think they should include one. Or do as Apple; Make a modular adapter where the plug can be changed without changing the entire adapter.
